THE SUN AND THE EARTH by Becky Russell

SUN

Dazzling delicate devilish star,

You scorch and burn from so far,

You shimmer and sparkle from so high,

You are definitely the brightest star in the sky.

Striking, shiny, sizzling sun,

Your heat gives us time to have fun,

At night it looks so beautiful when you fade,

When you are really hot we need shade.

EARTH

Brilliant big, beautiful ball,

You give us Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall,

I like the weather even when it rains,

The earth is beautiful from mountains to plains.

Wind, rain, sun and ice,The Sun and Earth don’t have a price.

NOT ALL ASTRONAUTS ARE LUCKY by Laura McMahon

10 Ten fearless astronauts waiting in a line
One failed the fitness test, then there were nine
9 Nine excited astronauts on the launching date
One was late for lift off, then there were eight
8 Eight bored astronauts, counting sheep 9, 10,11
One fell asleep then there were seven
7 Seven jumpy astronauts playing pick up sticks
One lost and ran away, then there were six
6 Six happy astronauts glad to be alive
One swallowed a walnut, then there were five
5 Five tired astronauts filled with bore
One pressed the eject button, then there were four
4 Four delighted astronauts filled with lots of glee
One fell out the window, then there were three
3 Three ecstatic astronauts liked monkeys in the zoo
One went to see some, then there were two
2 Two scared astronauts thought the mission was done
One gave up and left, then there was one
1 One lonely astronaut he was the hero
He went home then there was zero!
